POLIFAUNA is a five piece space pop band from Riga, Latvia. POLIFAUNA`s sound is influenced by 80`s and 90`s music (The Smiths, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, The Stone Roses, Mazzy Star, The Verve, Radiohead and many more). Currently the band has finished recording its first LP, which will be released in May 2017.
POLIFAUNA consists of rather well experienced musicians, who have played in other projects for a quite long time. However, this time the band has more ambitious plans embracing different attitude towards the process of music making. They`ve spent more then a year rehearsing and recording their material in collaboration with some of the best sound engineers and producers in Latvia.
Argo Vals is a composer and guitarist from Estonia.
He has been recording music mainly by himself since 2006, composing for several diverse acts and groups, as well as for numerous TV shows and dance performances.
Argo started experimenting and performing with live-electronics in 2007. His setup consists of electric guitar, drum machines, looper and effect pedals. The emerging architecture of sounds resembles at times post-rock, nordic jazz, math rock, minimal, ambient and idm.
His debut album "Tsihcier" was released in 2012 and second album "Nokturn" in 2015. Both records were nominated by Estonian Music Awards as the Best Alternative/Indie albums of the year. Estonian Music Awards 2016 nominated Argo Vals as the Male Artist of the year.
Vals has spoken of prog`s baroque beauty, whilst recognizing the wisdom of staying within minimal forms (Far From Moscow)
